House of Saffron is the creation of the Saffron Maharani Sisters – two sisters born and raised in Kenya, where the rhythms of Africa and the confluence of British influence met and shaped our story. Kenya is at our heart: the cadence of Swahili culture, the poetry of its coastal traditions, the warmth of its people, and the enduring Arabic influence that, for centuries, has blended into East Africa through trade, language, and artistry.

We once called ourselves the Safari Sisters, a reflection of our youth, our adventures, and our free-spirited journeys across Africa and beyond. But as time has passed, we have grown into the Maharani Sisters. Maharani, in Sanskrit, means Great Queen. For us, this is more than just a title — it is a celebration of womanhood: of getting older with grace, stepping into maturity, making decisions with confidence, and embracing the power of being queens in our own lives.

Our journey begins in this rich crossroads of cultures and expands across the continent – from the lush Congo to the soulful rhythms of Senegal, the resilience of South Sudan, and the timeless beauty of Zimbabwe. Africa has given us its spirit, and with it, the artistry of craft, the meaning of heritage, and the stories behind every piece.
